Prince's is a traditional and excellent fish and chip shop. With the possible exception of having the seaside nearby or my food coming wrapped in newspaper, this shop ticks all the boxes for me.
It's a big, clean and airy room with a nice and clear menu behind the till and an enticing display of pies and battered fishies on the go. The old favourite will set you back a touch more than a fiver (even more if you want mushy peas) but as we all know that's because we British went a tad bit berserk with the fishing in the 90s. Big fat steak and kidney pies, sausage rolls and bits of chicken are up for grabs should you want something else, all of which is, as with the fish and chips, very yummy indeed.
They're flying the flag high and proud so do it justice and pop by sometime. -

Excellent fish & chips. Staff friendly and efficient. May have to wait a short time sometimes as they cook small batches frequently.

My favourite fish n chip shop in the area, opens nice and late as well. They often suspiciously don't have any haddock (cheaper than cod, and more eco-friendly!) during week nights but all the fish is good and chips are tasty but not oily.
There is a casual single file queuing system that kind of snakes around the shop. You order and pay at the same time, then stand around for them to get through a bunch of orders at once. It does mean if you want something cooked special you will have to wait first in the queue and then wait again as they cook, so expect up to 10 minutes for things like haddock, chicken and some pies.
Takeaway only! -

As far as fish and chips are concerned, this place can do no wrong. The menu is concise and simple. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is of excellent quality. I can thoroughly recommend the haddock and chips. The only downside to Prince's is that popularity often results in long queues and waiting times for orders. Still, a consistently busy fish and chip is surely nothing but a sign of good quality throughout?

One of the best fish & chip shops in Bristol. Batter is the stuff you used to get as a child and the chips are freshly made, nice and chunky like homemade chips.
I usually go for a piece of haddock and chips and start picking at it before I make it home.
The staff are really friendly and the shop does get really busy on an evening, especially with the bingo hall down the road.
